Adult Leader Training

All Adult Leaders are encouraged to keep current with BSA Training as many are required for our outdoor activities.  This training is available online at myscouting.org. For access: Create an account. Log in. Go to the Elearning section.  Here you will find training on Youth Protection, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Weather Hazards, and several others.

How to become an Adult Leader

We are always in search of qualified leaders.  If you are interested in becoming an adult leader for Troop 159, we would love to have you.  Becoming an Assistant Scoutmaster allows you to participate in Troop events and campouts per BSA requirements.

The first step in such certification is to complete and turn in an application as a BSA adult leader. This includes a $15 fee and must be signed by a representative of our committee and turned in to the scout office.

The second step is Fast Start which continues to be available online. Fast Start is available at myscouting.org.  For access:  Create an account.  Log in.  Go to the Elearning section.  Fast Start is found under the Boy Scout Tab.

The third step is "This is Scouting" which has replaced New Leader Essentials and is now also  offered online at myscouting.org.  "This is Scouting is found under the General Tab.

There are also many other educational resources available here for adult leaders. This is a great resource to obtain certifications that are often required for our outings. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me.
